ABOUT ME
MY STORY
Travel. Attitude. Independence.
WELCOME!!
I’ve always been told I could be anyone I wanted, do anything I wanted to do, write my own story. I guess that support falls short of solo travel. As a woman, independence is a fear inducing subject. It takes something so freeing and turns it into an idea so daunting. I want to add a different version of solo travel, the version I know.
I discovered my thirst for travel when I dropped out of college and started working for an airline. Discouraged from a lack of direction and a very loose plan to return to my studies, I decided to focus on qualities of myself I never felt sure enough to explore. One of those qualities was my independence as a woman. I grew up very anxious and fearful about my future and stepping out of the single file line I was encouraged to follow. Once I stopped focusing on what scared me about the world, I found loads of freedom in myself I had learned to suppress.
My new job encouraged travel and the art of spontaneity if you decided to trust the process and trust yourself. I’ll never forget the moment I stepped onto my first plane alone and all the moments that would follow soon after. From experiencing a new city, attempting a new language or meeting the gazes of strangers passing by, I’ll never view life to be as shallow as society teaches.
PURPOSE
I started this blog as a way to document the journeys I take for those moments I feel incapable. To spread encouragement that we as women, people and human beings do not have to live in the fearful shadow cast on by those saying we shouldn’t. I am far from knowing who I am, but I know where I feel the most alive. Life is not to be lived in checkpoints, so don’t feel guilty for preserving your youth and getting in touch with your inner voice. Please enjoy this phrase of adventures, growth, artistry and living the unconventional way. If you ask me, I’d say it’s pretty fun;)
